April 13, 2026 is National Lineworker Appreciation Day! It is a day when we can take time to pause and recognize the brave men and women who work out on the powerlines day in and day out to keep essential electric power flowing to our homes, businesses and institutions.
When power outages occur and the lights go out, most of us just experience an inconvenience. But our lineworkers see a call to action.
OPD5 line crews are always ready when it matters most—leaving family dinners, working through the night and heading into challenging conditions to restore power as safely and quickly as possible. That readiness is not accidental. It comes from rigorous training, deep experience and a shared commitment to serving others.
OPD5 lineworkers are committed “beyond the switch.” That means putting in long hours under tough conditions with a mindset toward serving our customers. It’s much more than restoring power. It is showing up, staying until the job is done and putting the community first.
Our lineworkers don’t see their function as merely restoring power to a system—they’re restoring power to their own communities. They live here. They raise their families here. They understand that electricity is more than a convenience; it’s essential to daily life, to local businesses, to schools, infrastructure and emergency services. Powering all the places we call home is personal to OPD5 lineworkers.
So today we celebrate Lineworker Appreciation Day. But really, one day is hardly enough. Every time we flip the switch and the light goes on, every time we boot up a computer, turn on the stove, do the laundry, watch TV, charge a cell phone, and do hundreds of other simple tasks that we take for granted – we can thank lineworkers for their service and dedication.
To our lineworkers: thank you for your hard work, your readiness and your unwavering commitment to the communities we serve. We are proud to stand behind you and we are truly grateful for all that you do.
